For education only
The information on this site, and in Cancer Pathfinder, is for general education. It isn’t medical advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan, and it can’t take the place of a care team who knows you and your health history.
Talk with your care team
Every person’s cancer is different. Make decisions about your health with your doctors, nurses and the rest of your care team. Please don’t ignore medical advice, or put off getting care, because of something you read here.
In an emergency
If you think you’re having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away. Please don’t use email for emergencies.
If you’re thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
About Cancer Pathfinder
Cancer Pathfinder explains, in plain language, what the National Cancer Institute’s PDQ® cancer information summaries say about the details you enter, such as your cancer type and stage, with numbered sources you can check. It’s for education only, and it isn’t intended to diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent disease. It isn’t medical advice or a treatment plan, and it doesn’t tell you which treatment to choose. It doesn’t know your full health history, and it doesn’t replace your care team.
The questions Cancer Pathfinder suggests are there to help you talk with your oncologist. Cancer Pathfinder isn’t open to the public yet. Clinicians are reviewing its content first, and only invited reviewers can sign in. [CONFIRM: It has its own terms of use and privacy policy at cancerpathfinder.org.]
No doctor-patient relationship
Using this site or Cancer Pathfinder, or writing to us, doesn’t create a doctor-patient relationship, or any other professional relationship, with ACCRF or anyone connected with it. We can’t give medical advice.
Research, treatments and other organizations
When we describe research, clinical trials, treatments or other organizations, we aren’t recommending or endorsing them. Ask your oncologist whether a treatment or a clinical trial fits your situation.
Where to get more help
The National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Information Service takes questions about cancer at 1-800-4-CANCER (1-800-422-6237).
